An Introduction ...

I'm Simon Shackleton. I now record as Elite Force and Zodiac Cartel but back in 1997 I was in a band called Lunatic Calm with Howie Saunders & Jez Noble.

In 1997, we released 'Metropol', our debut Lunatic Calm album on MCA Records. It was a gritty hybrid of dance / indie / rock that we preferred to describe as 'humane dance music'. Despite major issues with clueless record company execs, ours was a passionate, self-driven musical journey and we enjoyed a fair bit of success at the time, including a whole range of high profile movie licenses, which including 'Leave You Far Behind' being used in the original Matrix.

During this time I kept a hand-written daily diary of our tour exploits, most notably a sporadic but lengthy trip across the USA, a full five-week tour with The Crystal Method, and one ill-fated tour of Europe in the back of a transit van. We start with A Taste of Americana (13/11-97 - 6/12/97).
